1:25 University of Southern Maine

University of Southern Maine

Back in 1970, the University of Southern Maine was born by merging Gorham Normal School with the University of Maine at Portland. Today, approximately 9,000 students are happy to call this school home. Boasting over 50 majors and over 20 graduate programs, USM allows you to study what interests you! Common programs include degrees in business, nursing, education, and social work; other interesting programs include cyber security, tourism and hospitality, sports management, and more! If you don't care for the already admirable 15:1 student-faculty ratio, take one of the 650+ courses USM offers online.

For USM's Huskies, education is a beautiful package: multi-faceted learning environments [situated in Maine's largest metropolitan area (Portland) with access to Maine's glorious wilderness], high affordability for excellent academics, and campus-community-online engagement.

USM is composed of three campuses: (1) Portland, (2) Gorham, and (3) Lewiston. Upon entering their first year, freshmen choose to live in living learning communities that specialize their first year housing around themes that interest them. With over 100 student organizations, clubs, and service groups and 22 successful NCAA division III sports, Huskies rarely get bored!

Enjoy the benefits of the city while also having a blast with all of USM's many traditions, namely their Winter Carnival, Husky Day of Service, and Spring Fling! Acceptance rate is generally 70 - 85% on rolling admissions so apply to see if there's a Husky in you!!!
