Mount Ida College
Mount Ida College--located in Newton, Mass. (just outside of Boston)--is a small school (approx. 1,300 students) that offers professional programs that could be perfect for you! Students can choose between four academic schools: The School of Applied Science, The School of Design, The School of Business, and The School of Social Sciences and Humanities. Degrees in dental hygiene, veterinary studies, and design (from fine arts to fashion) are very popular and esteemed majors at this college, though many, many other programs abound. Interested in Funeral Service Management?? Well, MIC has two degree programs for you in thanatology (the study of death, dying, and grief)! [kinda cool, no?]
Mount Ida is all about that ~ experiential ~ learning!! Be it in high class internships or hands on work with professors, students are able to put their learning to action. Additionally, Mount Ida's Center for Global Connections is an amazing resource to kick-start your global learning experiences! Interestingly, some degrees here offer online and hybrid courses, and even opportunities to earn credits over a Summer Session.
Mustangs (Mount Ida goer's) excel at athletics: men's and women's basketball, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, and cheerleading...just to name a few! For those students who aren't into sports but still thinking about getting fit, Mount Ida has a fitness center in their new Student Center (which also includes a dining hall, lounge, market, and more!). 60%ish students live on campus and the remaining students commute from home, so Mount Ida will definitely lend itself to a combo residential-commuter feel.
