Barnard College
A medium sized, private liberal arts college located in the very vibrant and very urban city of New York. Founded in 1889, Barnard was the first college in New York to provide a liberal arts education to women. The college is one of the seven sister colleges in the Country and has been affiliated with Columbia University since its founding; this enables students to take classes, live in residential halls, join organizations and play sports at Columbia University.

Academic calendar and faculty
Barnard is on a semester-based academic calendar, which means that there’re two main terms (Fall and Spring) and an optional summer term. The college provides small and intimate learning environment for its students, having a student to faculty ratio of 10:1.
